Asset Overview

SanWild Wildlife Sanctuary is a 3,000-hectare nature reserve that serves as a release site for rehabilitated African Wildlife species from various Wildlife Rehabilitation Centres across South Africa. What makes the sanctuary unique is that the land is held in trust for the animals, who are the only beneficiaries of the non-profit organization. SanWild is home to rescued elephants, lions, rhinos, cheetahs, leopards, and other endangered wildlife species that call the sanctuary home. Our main focus is on conservation and education, and we regularly facilitate research and wildlife training courses for local and international students. We also run various conservation initiatives, such as our free-roaming Cheetah project, whereby we participate in gene exchange programs to establish viable cheetah populations in game reserves all over Africa. Likewise, other species, such as giraffes, buffalo etc., are exchanged with other reserves to renew and strengthen wildlife gene pools in various parts of South Africa.
