383 Madison Avenue is a 755-foot tall skyscraper that is in Midtown, near the MetLife Building but behind One Vanderbilt, about a few blocks north. It was completed in 2001 and opened in 2002 as the former Bear-Stearns Building. When the former Union Carbide Building was slowly demolished (which is behind this building), the JP Morgan Chase company moved to 383 Madison Avenue as a temporary headquarter as long as the new supertall 270 Park Avenue is rising. Once complete, that company will leave this building and move to that new skyscraper in around 2023 - 2024. 383 Madison is located in the site where the cancelled Travelstead Tower which was proposed in the 1990s was going to be.
