Asset Overview
The Assyrian Balawat doors of Shalmaneser III, discovered by the archaeologist Hormuzd Rassam in 1878, are two immense doors made up of cedar wood boards and wrapped in eight bronze bands full of bas-reliefs.
These bands show scenes of Assyrian battles and victories, of the tortures that were carried out to the conquered peoples and the expeditions to Lake Van or Lake Urmia as well as to the source of the River Tigris.
The 3D model is a reconstruction based on the J. Curtis T. Nigel text (1) and the textures of the bands are "From The New York Public Library," (2) used with public domain C. under the laws of the United States.
