**What is at Stake?** In Jeremy Rifkin’s The Green New Deal, he discusses how we need a new infrastructure to mitigate climate change, stagnant economies, and social inequalities. Rifkin thinks these issues can only be solved through automation via an Internet of Things. For Rifkin’s vision to be realized, a network of nodes connected by 5g becomes necessary. A big proponent against the 5g network is job displacement from automation. However people will be needed to generate and maintain this infrastructure, replacing lost employment. **How are We Experimenting?** The object expresses the tensions and shifts that come with implementing 5g. Tension about 5g arises around uncertain employment and are created by the wire while a fabric wrapper defines enclosure. In the creation of this infrastructure, new voids (opportunities) are created through the wired structure of the object.
