Asset Overview
Short Description:
Engaging in discussions on degrees of control and the states of natural versus technological, the project investigates aesthetic, symbolic, and material concerns. 5G infrastructure invades its context to dominate the landscape by controlling land use and the pre-existing natural, focusing specifically on processes of agricultural production.
“Small” subtractions, exemplifying temporal, organic decay of marble, and “big” subtractions, modelling human, mechanical extraction cuts and marks, create readings through absence, pointing to the original invasive nature of 5G. Previous iterations investigated degrees of anthropocentric and humanistic design, questioning rationality between sculptural, metaphoric form and iconicism. What is natural? What is human? What form do these take and how can they be transformed?
