Asset Overview

Ancient text found on an abanodoned door lintel on Via Peri, in Arcidosso, Grosseto, Tuscany (Italy). IHS is a monogram of the name of Jesus Christ, that is, a cristogram. Although this monogram became popular in the Middle Ages, it has been used to this day. In this case, the letter H appears fused with an anchored cross, that is, with an anchor-shaped cross. Both symbols, the cross and the anchor, have been widely used by the Christian. Model was created in Reality Capture using 50 photographs. The Mt. Amiata Project is an ongoing GDH collaboration involving faculty and students at the University of Florence and the University of Siena. We could not have done this project without the considerable support of the Municipality of Arcidosso.
