Asset Overview

3D model of the of Al Midfa Mosque and Banyan Store (Silversmith’s Building) excavation areas adjoining Souq Al Arsa, Sharjah, UAE. The early city center area of Sharjah, known as Heart of Sharjah, contains candidate buildings for a World Heritage Nomination. Traces of Al Midfa mosque were discovered during the new hotel construction works in the area of Souq Al Arsa in January 2018 (Tatsuo Sasaki & Hanae Sasaki 2018). Based on ceramics and historical documents, the Mosque dates to the 19th and early 20th centuries. The Sharjah Mosque was scanned with FARO s70 laser scanners. In total, 30 scans were processed in RealityCapture and Meshlab to create this model. Tatsuo Sasaki & Hanae Sasaki 2018.
