Asset Overview

Grave relief for Euxenides, Athens, 330 B.C., marble, Nye Carlsberg Glyptotek (Copenhagen, Denmark). Made with Memento Beta. The exact meaning of the handshake, dexiosis, in Attic grave reliefs is debatable, for a death in the family involved a farewell, but also the evocation of close ties with the deceased. The top and back of the grave relief were poorly scan as the object was relatively tall and about 10 cm to the wall.
