Asset Overview

Stone lions are put to places which were thought to protect the building from harmful spiritual influences and harmful people that might be a threat. In this case it's to protect a temple. They were in ancient times put in front of every said important places like temples, palaces, government offices and in front of the homes of the wealthy. This particular sculpture sits at the gates of Swotha Krishna mandir, located in Swotha Square, believed to have been originally built by one of the sons of King Siddhi Narasingh Malla(1620-1661) but the study says the sculptures there are not that old because they were rebuilt again at some point in history.
