John Cook (1833-1829) was a "pioneer hybridizer of roses" during the early 20th century. His locally-named varieties included *Pearl of Baltimore*, *My Maryland*, and *Francis Scott Key*. This plaque rests at the foot of a small rose garden in Druid Hill Park. At the center of the garden sits an antique sundial, which can be seen [here](https://skfb.ly/onvpH).
