Asset Overview

Leiston Abbey was a Premonstatensian foundation in Suffolk, England, dissolved in the C16th. As with many such structures, valuable stone cladding was plundered for re-use in the locality. This example at Leiston shows an external buttress on the east end of the abbey with the rubble and flint infill that is typical of this area contrasting with cladding that remains in situ. You can see some graffiti carved into the cladding. FR and what looks like a temporary bench mark. Captured 25-07-2015 4pm
