Asset Overview

Vidin has a long history. At first the city was a Roman border post. Even today, the ruins of the Roman fortress Bononia can be seen. After the great migration of the nations, the Slavs settled permanently along the Danube. Bononia is now called Bdin or Budin. The migration to the Balkans is happening massively through Vidin, as the most convenient way to pass is precisely the Danube River along which the city is situated. The Slavs came with their families, their animals and their household. To preserve the historical memory and generations to be proud of their city, in 1910 was established a Regional Historical Museum, which existed in the form of an archaeological society. The idea of the patriots is to discover and explore all historical monuments and to keep them in a museum. Over the years, the museum has expanded significantly and now is located not only in its main administrative building, but also in three historical sites - the Baba Vida fortress, Konak and the Crossroad Barracks.
