Carranque is the site of a 4th century Roman villa that is protected as an archeological park by the Castile-La Mancha government. This villa contains some of the best preserved moasics in Spain. Across the floors of the villa are mosaics depicting the death of Adonis, two dogs named Leander and Titurus, and most recognized, the god Oceanus, featuring crab antennas and claws and a wavy beard.
