Asset Overview
This time I've uploaded another shanty located in the camp of San Roman, Valle de los Caídos. The area was occupied by houses rose up by the relatives of the free-workers. We don't know for sure what was the purpouse of this particular structure, it could be a storage room but also a shanty used by a single person. The majority of the houses were built using the bedrock as a kind of support, which offered a solid base and permit to save construction materials. The goal of our project was to recover the prints of the people who worked during the construction of the pantagruelic monument, a symbol of francoist victory in the Sapnish Civil War (1936-1939). We discovered several differences in the material assemblage of the houses of free-workers and political prisoners relatives, the houses of the latest were better equipped, with more construction material at their disposal, like, concrete or mudbrick. But, overall the conditions were very poor.
