Asset Overview

1927 marked the beginning of the planification which resulted in what is known as "Ciudad Universitaria". As a result of the royal initiative from the king Alfonso XIII the new universitarian campus in Moncloa (Madrid) was borned. The first faculty to be constructed was Medicine and then Farmacy and Odontology. Nine years later the Spanish Civil War broke up, the protectorate army was advancing unstoppable towards Madrid, but the republicans under General Miaja and Vicente Rojo reorganised themselfs and face the rebel army, Madrid must not fall. After a fierce battle en Casa de Campo, the 15th of november 1936 the francoist army crossed the Manzanares river and tryed to enter in the city, between them and their objetive was Ciudad Universitaria and its unfinnished faculties. The republicans, a conglomerated of militias, anarchists, communists, dynamiters, loyal army officers and international brigadists, amongst others, kept their grounds. Madrid would not fall. The assault finished, but the combat persisted.
