Important preserved archaeological find in Terracina (iTaly) at the Filosi Professional Institute.
"The decree of the Pontiffs" are two Roman-era piers that belonged to it
to an ancient portal that probably introduced into a religious sepulchral area.
The inscription placed on them is dated between 101 AD and 250 d.C.
Very rare and it is basically about authorizations that were issued to requesting persons for the arrangement of a sepulcher.
The rarity of this artifact is also in the formula used in the inscription
which also recalls propitiatory sacrifices. In fact, before rebuilding
in this case the funeral monument would have had to sacrifice a sheep
dark color that would have been a good omen to cleanse the area
sepulchral.
