Asset Overview

This shed belonged to the Tru-Value Hardware Store before it moved out of town, maybe still does. The vise on the side of the shed is a fitting giveway as to what it was. The outside of the shed was wood that was covered with sheet metal made from five gallon gasoline cans with the names of Shell and Mobile long weathered away. The practice of using gas cans made sense here in Eureka Nevada. Gas cans were free, and this only wooden shed was likely damn cold with wind blowing thru all of the cracks. This stretch of the 1914 and 1925 versions of Lincoln Highway was an early paved section in the middle of Nevada. This location was on the Old Spanish Trail, the Pony Express, and Overland Stage Route too but was in use for 10,000 years before that by many others.
