For this model, I researched various types of generic pirate treasure chests. I combined common elements such as rusty bolts and metal detail on the edges the maximise the chests surface area efficiently. I chose to angle the base of the chest inwards to make it more distinct and recognisable along side other generic box chests.
To save time, I chose to create the internal jewellery using a texture map. The diffuse map was prcoessed through Materialize to provide Height and Normal maps which were then brought over to Substance Painter. For the wood texture, I chose a more muted tone to help enhance the stark brightness of the gold. Height layers were used to create a plank like effetc on the wood.
