Asset Overview

A chocolate bar from the times of King Stanisław August Poniatowski. The chocolate bar is rectangular in shape with bevelled edges. In the center there is a five-field cartouche with the coats of arms of Poland, Lithuania and the coat of arms of the Poniatowski family (Ciołek). The cartouche is topped with a crown. In June 1787, King Stanisław August Poniatowski stayed in Kraków for two weeks. He stayed at the royal castle in Wawel. At that time, Jan Rychter was the royal court confectioner. Perhaps he is the creator of the bar of chocolate kept in university collections.
