Asset Overview

A cuera is a large sleeveless cloak/jacket worn by horse mounted soldados on the frontier as armor to protect them primarily from arrows. It consists of 7 layers of deer hide and weighed about 14 pounds. It took approximately 14 deer to make one cuera. Some of the soldados decorated them with various paints and designs.
