Asset Overview
Results from an a archaeological trench excavated through modern concrete surface in St James Boulevard, Newcastle. Model shows a sandstone wall and modern concrete pad beneath the floor of the 1950's building. The sandstone wall belongs to the Newcastle Lunatic Asylum. The asylum was built in 1767 and extended and improved in 1824 to the design of John Dobson.
