This point is rather difficult to identify, as most of the characteristics used to identify this kind of artifact are rely on the base of the point - which is missing from this specimen. However, I believe it's probably an adena snapped-base.
Its size (9 1/16" or 6.5 cm) means that it probably wasn't used as a projectile point, but was more likely employed as a knife.
I have found some artifacts in some odd places... this one was at work, unearthed by some recent construction!
In my opinion, this piece is made of the most beautiful flint I've found so far - it's a reddish-brown marbled with a lighter tan/brown, and is semi-translucent in good lighting.
