Asset Overview

c. 1200-1000 BCE Luristan Private Collection A bronze Adze-Axe from the Luristanian culture. This wood working tool shows signs of wear on the adze head in the center and most likely had a bit more cutting edge on the axe blade. The detail on the socket includes what looks like figure eights with a domed center of each end and a tree like chevron detail on the front and back of socket. There is an additional circular or oblong form along the upper edge on each side of the socket. These details are seen in several other originals from this same period and seem to be a common form of decoration for the sockets of these tools. * Overall Length : 5.82 in | 147.9mm * Overall Height : 2.03 in | 51.7 mm * Adze Width : 2.08 in | 52.8mm * Width at Socket : 1.42 in | 36.1mm * Width 1cm from Edge : 0.26 in | 7.1mm * Socket Interior Diameter : ~ 0.76 in | 19.4mm [Support us on Patreon](https://www.patreon.com/oakeshott) [Follow us on Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/oakeshottinstitute)
