Asset Overview

Albion No. 6551 was manufactured in London, 1891, was acquired by William Morris in 1895. It was shipped to New York in 1924. Albion No. 6551 was owned by the Lieberman Family as a collection, they renamed it the Kelmscott-Goudy press, and topped it with a miniature Liberty Bell. As the Cary Collection Curator said, No. 6551 contains both elements of the USA (the miniature Liberty Bell) and British , which indicates its unusual experiences. In December 2013, the Cary Collection acquired Albion No. 6551 at Christie's auction with the support of a donor. In the Cary Collection, it opens to the public, and it starts to print again after over a century for the purpose of education.
