The presented apothecary vessel contain raw material of animal origin – oriental cockroaches (Blatta orientalis L.). The vessel is made of transparent glass has an oval sign bordered with a black stripe. The signature reads: Blatta Orientalis, meaning oriental cockroach.
Pulverised cockroaches were predominantly utilised in the production of medicinal tinctures, used as antispasmodic and strongly diuretic agents.
