The Archaeological Field School conducted by the National Park Service uncovered the remnants of the foundation of a WWI era Spruce Mill. The site was later graded to create additional landings for the Pearson Airfield, one of the two oldest continuously operating airfields in the US. The use of scanning is optimal to digitally capture daily excavations as the site changes day to day. The 3D model relates detailed information that can not be acquired with traditional photos and sketches.
