The Ardrossan Sarcophagous was a carved stone coffin found in 1911 within the ruins of the Ardrossan Old Parish Church on Castle Hill. The sarcophagous was medieval in date and was thought to belong to an important local noble though current theories have suggested that it may have belonged to a Templar Knight. The sarcophagous is currently on display in the North Ayrshire Heritage Centre in Saltcoats https://artuk.org/visit/venues/north-ayrshire-heritage-centre-7359 For more information on the history of the church on Castle Hill contact the Ardrossan Castle Heritage Society https://www.facebook.com/ArdrossanCastle/?rc=p
