Asset Overview
3D model based on a microCT scan of a frozen Southern three-banded armadillo, also known as Azara’s domed armadillo (*Tolypeutes matacus*). These animals live in South America and can be found in Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. They can be as long as 25 centimeters and weigh up to 2 kilograms. It is the only armadillo species that can roll up into a complete ball.
This particular armadillo will be mounted by our taxidermists to be part of an upcoming exhibition at the NHMW in 2022.
