Asset Overview
The man-made Bell Caves in Beit Guvrin, Israel served as quarries that supplied building materials to the cities of the coastal plain and Beit Guvrin during the 7th-10th centuries CE.
The media source for this 'proof-of-principle' model was a 360 video camera used in a walking tour. 500, 360-degree equirectangular images were extracted from the video, each image then being run through the Flexify v2 Photoshop plugin, with '12 views' as the output projection. The output of the Flexify plugin is a single large image comprising of 12 rectilinear overlapping views side by side, and spanning the full 360 degrees. The Flexify plugin output was then split into 12 separate images using, for example Photoscape or XnViewMP. These (now 6000) images were used as the actual input source for the model generation. Motion blur within the images, caused by the non stationary video camera being employed in low lighting conditions (causing relatively long camera shutter speeds), has reduced the overall resolution of the model.
