Asset Overview

The presented object is a trzos belt – a wide leather belt with a pocket for storing money and documents. It was made in the 2nd half of the 20th century by a Romani saddler near the Romanian city of Brasov (Braşov in Romanian). The belt was made of a double-folded strip of leather; at the upper edge there is an additional narrow pleat. It is fastened with 4 metal buckles, through which short straps with punched leather eyelets are threaded (5 in each strap). The end of each strap can be additionally fixed by threading it through a belt loop in a vertical leather belt (7 cm wide) attached to the trzos belt with 3 pairs of brass rivets.
