Asset Overview

This model is of the Belvedere (Meaning 'Beautiful View'). The structure replaced the building housing the steam engine that powered the chain winding mechanism, at the top of the Avenham Incline, on the Tram Road section of the Lancaster Canal, at Preston's Avenham Park in 1875. It had previously occupied a location in the adjoining Miller Park from 1865. Sections of the model are incomplete and we are currently trying to obtain permission from Preston Parks to allow us to photograph the building using a drone. Hopefully a fuller, more detailed model can then be generated. You can check out more of the history of the Lancaster Canal Tram Road at www.a2bdronephotography.com under the History Project Tab (Currently under construction).
