BIRUG 3104 Trimerus delphinocephalus

Specimen of *Trimerus delphinocephalus*, found in the Much Wenlock Limestone Formation at Dudley Castle in 1887. The species name ‘*delphinocephalus*’ means "dolphin head" from the Greek “delphis” (dolphin) and “kephalé” (head). This trilobite would have been a fast-moving, epifaunal marine carnivore in the tropical coral reef that stretched through the West Midlands during the Silurian Period (443–419 million years ago). This specimen was donated to the Museum by Sir George H. Holcroft in 1917. This model was digitised by Andrew Jones using an Artec Spider 3D scanner.
