Asset Overview
Full name: **Bottle of kosher wine from the house of Szymon Kluger in Oświęcim, Poland**
A bottle of kosher wine from the collection of objects found in the house of Szymon Kluger (1925–2000), the last Jewish resident of Oświęcim.
In Judaism, for certain food products to be considered kosher (Hebrew: proper; fit for consumption), they have to be produced in accordance with strict Jewish dietary regulations known as “kashrut”. This applies to wine as well. The entire production process, starting from the crushing of the grapes and culminating in the bottling and sealing of the wine, ought to be supervised by a Shabbat-observant Jew.
