Asset Overview

After its complete excavation, a rectangular Celtic pit house orientating east-west was found in Szurdokpüspöki. With its huge size (nearly 5 x 5.5 meters), its double, largely burnt debris and filling, and its abundance of partially burnt finds, it is one of the outstanding phenomena of the era in Northern Hungary. In its filling, a number of Celtic pottery have been uncovered. Most of the ceramics can be dated to the LT C1 and C2 periods and the loom weights in the northwest corner were completely prepared. In the middle of the building, under the millstones, some small depressions and posthole were found, which may have played a role in some activity.
