Clennell Hill

This previously unrecorded rock art panel was reported in early 2019 by the farmer at Clennell via members of the Alwin Reserach Group to archaeologist Richard Carlton. The panel occupies the naturally flat face of a sandstone boulder currently sitting on the south-facing slope of a hillside north of Clennell farm. The boulder is just over 1m long, 0.7 m wide and up to 0.25 m deep. Its original position is thought to lie some distance upslope. The panel bears similarities in size and format with four others previously reported at Clennell by Beckensall (1983), one of which has now been removed from the valley. There are 11 individual cups between c5-10 cm diameter and c1.5-6 cm deep with partial rings and connecting ducts. Information taken from poster by Richard Carlton dated May 2009.
