Asset Overview

The 70 ft. long Como was one of six streetcar boats built by Twin Cities Rapid Transit (the others being Minnehaha, Harriet, Hopkins, Stillwater, and White Bear) and put into service in 1906 to service the commuting population around Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota. In 1926 the streetcar boats had outlived their usefulness and were taken out of service and put up for sale. Only one, the Hopkins, was sold. Three of the others, the Minnehaha, Como and White Bear along with their tug Hercules, were scuttled in 1926 in Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota north of Big Island. The others were dismantled in 1927. The photography for the model was done by Andrew Goodman under the ice and the model was created from 1,224 30 megapixel RAW images shot with artificial lighting in visibility of 15 to 20 ft.
