This is one of several artefacts that may suggest there was a hand pump onboard the Abergavenny.
The biggest pump would undoutedly have been for the bilge, and would have been instrumental in trying to save the ship from foundering, however this may have been for a smaller hand pump.
Does anybody have any more information? Could anyone help with a positive identification?
