This charm was made by a dairyman, from a cow's heart stuck with pins and nails. It was used as a talisman against a man he believed had put a curse on his cows.
It was previously part of Edward Lovett's collection. He was a passionate collector from Croydon, best known for his knowledge and enthusisam for legends and folklore. He [donated many items](http://heritage.southwark.gov.uk/collections/1480/lovetts-charming-world/objects) to the Cuming museum in 1916.
