Daithi's Mound or Knockannagcorp (The Hill of the Corpses)
This is one of the few sites at Rathcroghan to be excavated (Waddell 1988). It was reputed to be the burial place of the last pagan king of Ireland, who was struck by lightning at the foot of the Alps. The site is a Ring barrow, with a circular grass covered mound a fosse and outerbank. At the centre a red-sandstone standing stone is situated. This stone has fallen a number of times in the past and replaced by the landowners. Carbon dating of charcoal places the site within the Iron Age
