Asset Overview

Lead weight (C10 15B). One of a pair of enigmatic lead objects found near the wreck of HMS Colossus in the Isles of Scilly (wrecked 1798). They measure 230x175x60mm and weigh 24.5 kilograms (54lb) each. They are identical in form and mass to weights used by early diving pioneers the Dean brothers. The Deans are known to have undertaken salvage on the wreck of Colossus in 1833.
