Asset Overview

Under Kanishka, the Kushan kingdom reached the apogee of its development, turning into a large empire with its capital in Peshawar, including a significant part of Central Asia (Bactria and southeast Sogdiana with Bukhara and Samarkand), the Fergana Valley, part of East Turkestan, modern Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as northern India. The Kanishka Empire flourished politically, economically and spiritually, being the main stronghold of Greco-Buddhism. Kanishka is considered to be one of the greatest rulers who promoted Buddhism.
