A dolium (plural: dolia) is a large earthenware vase or vessel used in ancient Roman times for storage or transportation of goods.
This specimen, with a remarkable capacity of about 2000 liters, was recovered at sea on 23 June 1999 by a trawler. the Dolium, from the era of the August emperor, was used for the transport of wine.
