This headstone was first recorded by Gary Dempsey during a project with artist Ruth Le Gear [(Water Senses)](https://www.ruthlegear.com/portfolio/water-senses/) looking at the legend of the Dobhar Chu in Conwall Graveyard Co. Leitrim and its connections to Glenade Lough.
The stone may be part of a pair that inspired the story of a water beast who murdered a woman by the shores of the lough. Her husband chaced the beast on horse back, before his horse was killed and he slay the water beast. A wonderful local folk legend from Leitrim and Donegal.
Conwall graveyard is part of an old church site between Manorhamilton (Co. Leitrim) and Bundoran Co. Donegal), and is will worth a vist to see these two stones.
