The Calvary in Eisenstadt is an artificially constructed mountain made of stones, interspersed with grottos and small chapels, depicting the Passion of Christ. The Calvary was commissioned by Prince Paul I Esterházy (1635-1713), who had been very impressed by the Calvary in Maria Lanzendorf near Vienna.
