Asset Overview
The [École normale supérieure](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89cole_normale_sup%C3%A9rieure_(Paris)) (ENS) is one of the most prestigious *grandes écoles* in Paris, France. Founded in 1794, it was intended to provide the Republic with a new body of professors, trained in the critical spirit and secular values of the Enlightenment.
The site's monument aux morts (war memorial), which was inaugurated in 1923 and stands as a reminder of the "normaliens" who lost their lives in the First World War, is a work by [Paul Landowski](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Landowski)
