Asset Overview
This was excavated in early 20th century in the ancient Egyptian town of Lahun and donated to the Janet May Buchannan Memorial Collection in Glasgow Museums by her sister Nora Buchannan in 1919. J. May Buchannan set up Glasgow's first Egyptian exhibition in1912 butwas tragically killed in car accident that same year. Glasgow Museums holds over 800 Egyptian objects donated in her name.
This object was probably a playing piece from an ancient egyptian board game played with lions and hares. unfortunately no rules of this game have survived.
