Asset Overview

Funeral altar of Quarta, early 2nd century, Rome, Marble. Musée d’Art et d’Histoire (Musée du Cinquantenaire, Brussels, Belgium). Made of 370 pictures with Zephyr3D Lite from 3DFlow. White marble cippe. The crown of the altar has a crown and band decoration, on the sides, an urceus (libation jug) and a hook. Lettering: D (is) M (anibus). Quatae coniugi optimae Tychicus. 'To the gods manes. For Quarta his excellent wife, Tychicus (raised this monument) '. The wife of the slave Tychicus, also of servile condition, has a name which indicates the order of birth or rather of acquisition by her master ("the fourth").
