Asset Overview
A remarkable carved head depicting a Gallowglass solider. The detail in the carving demonstrates the mason had a familiraity with the detail of the headwear. The carving was likely part of a window or door and has been reset into the wall. It shows a youthful figure with uneven features, the helmet appears to tilt to one side, possibly indicating the carving is looking in that direction. The nose is long and retangular with uneven placment of the eyes which are oval shaped with sharp corners and roles drilled for the eyeball.
