Memorial fountain from 1887 on the grounds of the Old Vienna General Hospital. The fountain was built on the occasion of the hospital's water connection to the I. Wiener Hochquellleitung. After the water supply was improved, the number of cholera deaths decreased rapidly.
The start of construction of the Old General Hospital was ordered by Emperor Leopold I in 1693. Further extensions were made in the following decades. Today, the building complex is used as the campus of the University of Vienna.
