Low grade metasedimentary rocks, Silurian in age, dating from the closing of Iapetus, are intruded by a composite (basalt outer + granite inner) cone sheet of Palaeogene age, related to the opening of the Atlantic. The NE-SW strike of the metasedimentary rocks is clearly cross-cut at this location by the approximately N-S striking intrusive contact. Initial view is approximately due south.
